The western and west central regions of the Northern Cape  The land supports an astonishing diversity of living forms, Namaqualand is famed for the glory of its springtime wild flowers; the Richtersveld for its strikingly unusual landscapes and unique plant life; the Kalahari for its far horizons and desert-adapted animals.  are classed as arid wilderness with some parts being in classic desert country.

The Northern Cape is diamond country and the great Orange River that carried diamonds to sea continues to supply a precious commodity in these dry parts – water, year round.  The adventure tourist will enjoy the white water adventures of the great Orange River in flood, the fishing is great too and for those just wanting to take a look – then the mighty Augrabies Falls pay homage to this river.  Kimberley, and the Big Hole allow tourists to enter into South Africa’s history with a superb museum, old town village and city tram that is till in operation today.

The people of the Northern Cape are friendly hosts and evidence of the good relations can perhaps be seen in the first of Africa’s cross-border “peace parks” - the KgalagadiTransfrontier Park.

There is something new to discover under the blue sky of Northern Cape along the long roads and the diversity of these surprises is what adds to the rich experience of a Northern Cape Tourism expereince.
